I remember reading Richard Branson’s autobiography called “Losing my Virginity” – great title was my first thought. And one of the most poignant points he makes in the book is that he is happy to reveal how he does things and how he develops his businesses because he knows that 99% of other people out there in the world won’t go and do it because they don’t have the drive, discipline or determination to succeed at it.
It’s a good point, because most people after they have been at work all day, got home, cooked, cleaned, showered and perhaps fed their kids the last thing they want to do is spend the rest of their evening working. Well, most people anyway. It’s those who are prepared to go the extra mile who will make things work for them.
And it’s the same case about making tough decisions, getting out of your comfort zone and doing what you really want to do. Or at least what you think you want to try. Too many people are scared of doing it, and aren’t pushing themselves to really progress and develop themselves. They are stuck in the comfort zone.
Then a friend of mine happened to post this picture which is a quote which I think really does have a great message:
So, what do you want to do? What changes to you want to make? It doesn’t matter how small they. Maybe you want to take up a hobby that you’ve been meaning to start for years but just haven’t got around to it. If that’s the case, spend 30 minutes finding a place to do it and an instructor/class where you can practice and book it.
These ideas are so simple and everyone is aware of them, yet people still do not take action. Talk is cheap, actions speaker louder than words…We all know the cliches and they are such for very good reason; they are true. So get out there and make a change today!
